Uncertainty

One flip of a coin between two people on New York's Brooklyn Bridge. It is uncertain that this may be a life changing decision or just another 4th July weekend full or fireworks and noise. We're uncertain what this movie is about...but we know that there is certainly one reason to see it.

SEEN O' The Day: Manic

So haven't we all at one point had this conversation? Whether you're stoned with friends or leaving the movie theater after seeing a great superhero flick somehow the conversation wanders to...
who is the greatest superhero of all time and why? The film Manic is about a juvenile commited to the wing of the Northwood Mental Institution. Several other guys are there with a variety of crazee problems. The hotness that is--JGL plays Lyle, who interacts with other patients and staff on a human, and sometimes not so human level. The psychological problems of the patients also forms the fabric by which we see what's right with them, and what's wrong with the society that affects them.

Look at the moments where JGL looks over at the girl...but its almost like he's flirting with the camera instead. Sometimes he doesn't even have to say anything and his performance is solid. :::SIGH:::

Here is the scene where they discuss at length superheroes and their abilities and inabilities as crime fighters.

Stop-Loss: Early Review

Stop Loss
is a new film by Kimberly Peirce, the indie filmmaker who broke out in a big way in 1999 with her hit Academy Award decorated film Boys Don't Cry. The movie stars Ryan Philippe, Rob Brown, Timothy Olyphant, and the hotness that is...Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film opens up with Philippe as a solider who has just arrived home from his service in Iraq. He is finally ready to settle back home in Texas and spend time with friends and family. However, Philippe finds him self in an unfortunate situation when he is "Stop Lossed".

What is Stop Loss? It's when a soldier's service is beyond their expected term of service and they are called to go back and serve for an additional length of time. Typically this is a contractual obligation that is argued upon by many U.S. soldiers, however they are expected to complete their duties under the authority of the Commander-In-Chief. Peirce for the first time, touches upon this issue in a fictional film and introduces us into the world of soldiers who have gone AWOL and sort of an underground railroad of former soldiers who now "lay low" and have changed their identities to avoid criminal charges as result leaving their base and choosing not to serve in war.

Ryan Philippe gives a strong performance as Brandon King, a
gung ho army strong Texan who won't take no for an answer. He chooses not to serve his Stop Loss and decides to go AWOL. Channing Tatum who plays Steve Shriver gives an incredible performance as the solider who is not yet ready to deal with his home life and the girl he left back. Shriver begins having flashbacks of his moments in combat and we see the effects of what war can do to the mind of a human being.

The film also stars
JGL as Tommy Burgess who is conflicted when he returns home and suffers from deep seeded issues of alcoholism and figuring out what his place is in this world outside of Iraq. This is an amazing film. It's actually by far one of the best films about the current war situation in Iraq. It also opens your eyes as to what is really happening to our soldiers out there and the effect of the war insurgency called upon by George W. Bush. Stop Loss has passion and will definitely incite controversy on both ends of the spectrum. Whether you are anti-war or pro you will feel strongly about the message in this film. This is another plus for director Kimberly Peirce who directed a film about a woman posing as a man in a small Nebraska town in the film Boys Don't Cry.

Stop Loss is released in theaters nationwide on 3/28/08.

SEEN O' The Day: Havoc

You Ain't Real

This is a a good movie. It's kinda sad too cuz I actually know kids like this. Privledged kids tryin to act all hard in their upper crust-spoon fed lives and think by going into the "hood" they can prove their worth in the world. This scene is between Freddy Rodriguez (yumz) and Anne Hathaway (who gets nude in the flick). Freddy tell her that she aint and she's just a wannabee for trying to hang out in East L.A. when her home is Pacific Palisades.

Did I mention JGL is in this film too??

Indie Pick O' The Day: Shadowboxer

I loved this movie! Okay, besides looking at an oil-glistened booty from Cuba Gooding Jr and not too mention full frontal of Stephen Dorff doin it doggy style this is actually a very witty film with fully developed characters and a substantial plot. Yepperoonies!!!

Basically ol' Cuba Goody is a hitman along with his stepmother/lover Helen Mirren. yes, that's right...she's his stepmom AND his girlfriend. Anyways, the two of the are killers for hire and Mirren's character is hit with some unfortunate news that she is dying of cancer. After years of killing people, Mirren suddenly grows a conscience when she is hired to kill the wife of a crime boss who just so happens to be preggers (that's pregnant yall). The wife is the hot n sexy Vanessa Ferlito, who I TOTALLY loved in Death Proof.

Mirren decides to have mercy on her soul and not kill the pregnant wife, but instead take her in and put her into hiding. She even decides to help take care of her kid!!! Well the story of events of this film evolve over the years and the plot starts to get really interesting!!

Ummm...oh yea, did I mention "the hotness that is" JGL is in this film?? Oh yea, and lemme say he really is hot. He plays a doctor to the crime boss and is responsible for helping the injured clients who find themselves getting shot in the foot by their crime bosses. JGL's girlfriend is voluptuous funny lady Ms Mo'Nique which I find to be incredibly bizarre...yet sexy! My favorite scene is when JGL gets caught "tipping the velvet" with another chick and Monique finds them in that uncompromising position. HOTNESS!!!!! JGL doing his thang...wowz. I think I rewound that scene like 5 times.

Anywayz, the film is directed by none other than producer Lee Daniels who produced Monster's Ball. My aunt claims to know his mom...hey Aunt Faye give me the hookup!!!

Indie Pick O' The Day: The Lookout

"I wake up. Turn off the alarm. Look outside so I know what to wear. I took a shower... with soap. Then I shave. Sometimes I cry for no reason. I wake up. I get dressed. I take my meds. I eat breakfast and I don't read the paper, it confuses me, which makes me mad. I wake up."

I know, I know this is just another excuse for us to rant and rave about our JGL but we can't help it! This is a kick ass movie! The Lookout is about poor Chris Pratt who finds himself in a devastating car accident that leaves him with a life long brain injury. He only remembers bits and pieces of moments at a time, and has to write down everything in order to commit it to memory.

Chris finds himself being taken advantage of when he is approached by Gary Spargo (played by Matthew Goode). Gary lets Chris in on a little secret---"wanna rob a bank?" Chris finds himself at caught between a rock and a hard place when he ponders whether he should go with the heist or let well enough alone.

Jeff Daniels and Isla Fisher also co-star in this wild ride crime thriller. The script is by seasoned screenwriter Scott Frank who wrote Minority Report and Out Of Sight. This is Frank's directorial debut in this film.

Ummm can I just say something??? Will someone give this kid an Oscar already? He is such an underrated actor!!! Let's get scrubs like Paul Walker off the screen and add more JGL to the movie theaters!!

Indie Picks O' The Day

WOW. It's been a looonnngg time since an update has been made on this blog. So we're gonna make up for it in a BIG way. Instead of the PICK O' The Day....lets add a few more in one post. In this blog we will review 3 Indie flicks that are offbeat, funny, and dramatic.

Mysterious Skin
Dir. Gregg Araki

Okay, so if you are as familiar with Gregg Araki's work as we are, then you probably will watch this movie thinking...is this really an Araki film?? It's not exactly his atypical film that involves kooky characters tripping off acid or sex crazed teens involved in x-driven orgies. Instead, its a moderately paced film about two guys with a deep dark secret. Neil is a gay hustler played by "the hotness that is" Joseph Gordon Levitt. He becomes bored with his small town life in Kansas and decides to move to the big city to continue his career as a male prostitute. Meanwhile, Brian played by Brady Corbet is trying to figure out what happened to him as a child. He suspects that he may have been abducted by aliens. He also remembers that Neil was with him at the time of his abduction and Brian finds himself on a mission to locate his childhood friend who may have some answers to what happened to him that fateful night. The alien abduction is in fact a deep dark secret that both boys uncover and each come to terms with who they are and how the event affected them in their present lives.

This is one of the most underrated performances by JGL. He is fascinating to watch on screen and an incredibly talented actor. His character draws you in and although his life is destructing into a downward spiral, you're curious to see what his next move is going to be although you suspect it may be his last. It has its moments of suspense, drama, humor, and heartbreak. It's a powerful film by a talented ass director and a phenomenal cast.

Cecil
B. Demented
Dir. John Waters

Now this is all about the indie! If you are an indie-enthusiast and absolutely loathe the studio system, then you will have a deep appreciation for this John Waters flick. This offbeat comedy is about a lunatic renegade indie filmmaker named who decides to kidnap Honey Whitlock (played by Melanie --I sound like a mouse--Griffith), an A list Hollywood startlet who studios flock to for casting. Cecil forces Honey to be cast in his guerrilla style film and robs convenient stores to use a film locations as well as shooting up teamsters to to get on studio sets. Its freakin awesome!!! Each oddball character plays a significant production role in the film. The gay hairsylist played by Jack Noseworthy is so funny and Adrien Grenier (aka sexiness) as the drug addicted co-star who offers every single type of illegal drug known to man to Honey Whitlock is hilarious to watch.

John Waters who never fails to dissapoint us cinematically makes another freaky comedy about the world of indie cinema and illustrating how some filmmakers are willing to do anything to get their film made. Some good pointers perhaps for our NYindieSeen readers???

Twin Falls Idaho
Dir. Michael Polish

The Polish brothers (who are totally hot by the way) produced and directed this film about siamese twins living a life of obscurity in their barren hotel room. Penny, who we believe is a prostitute, changes the lives of these two conjoined brothers who has hid themselves from the real world. She soon discovers that one the twins (Francis) is very ill. However, the other twin (Blake) begins to fall in love with Penny and the feeling becomes mutual. The three try to figure out their own lives is this bizarre film.

This movie isn't exactly for everyone. Probably because its offbeat tone and ambiguous story. However, its interesting to see the lives of these characters transform and how a relationship can develop between a conjoined twin and another person.

And the Next SpiderMan is...

So word is that Tobey Maguire, is getting tired of playing the Amazing Spiderman, which really makes no sense to me, cause how the hell can you get bored of swinging around Manhattan on a friggen spider web and fighting blood thirsty villains?

Actually, he probably got tired of having to kiss princess snaggle tooth Kirsten Dunst in all three of the spider movies and having to feign any sort of attraction for her dirty bath water soaking ass, i mean seriously why does she always look so unsanitary? you are worth millions of dollars bitch! act like it, throw some soap in the mix!

so when they DO get around to making spider man 4, which they no doubt will, I mean geez part 3 has Venom!

Fucking VENOM!!!!!!!!!, ( sorry I just Geeksploded all over the place) well you know that's gonna be a hit and when they come around to making that 4th installment here are some picks to possibly replace senor Seabiscuit:

Jake Gyllenhaal- Obvious choice, he's hunky and vulnerable at the same time and i could totes see him rocking the red and blue spandex...actually maybe this is too obvious

Freddie prinze Jr.- he's a bore I know, but if he was cast maybe he could get SMG involved somehow and I'm all for some spider, Buffy action.

Taye diggs - Yeah that's right, why not?....racist!

Hayden Christensen- on second thought mmm, nah , sure is pretty though

Jude Law- Why not an older Spider man , an older, British spider man, an older kinda dull ,British spider man.... no?

Ashton Kutcher- OK if they really cast his ass then we ALL just got PUNK'D!

Wentworth Miller - this Prison Break hottie, may come off a little too brooding and cool to play dorky Peter Parker, but he's got the appeal and the Geek fan base, plus we have a soft spot for ole Wenty.

Clay Aiken -The Height of boyish masculinity, Clay is also America's Idol , playing an American Comic book Icon would seal the deal for this manly mans appeal

Evan Ross -the secret love child of Micheal Jackson and Diana Ross, would make a great young Peter Parker for the new millennium, It's definitely time for a Multi culti SpiderMan. We'd just have to pump him up a little and he'd be perfection.

David Beckham - he just moved to L.A. and wants an acting gig, though it may be a tad bit distracting to have spidey Freaking out about how his hair looks in the middle of a battle

Orlando Bloom - he's got the look right? But it may be awkward co-starring with your hygeine-lacking ex

Paul Walker- he's fast and furious, let's throw some race cars up in there and we may have our man, to bad he looks like a major douche', he would have been perfect for Eddie Brock.

Ricky Martin- SpiderMan's gay Right?

(The Hotness that is) Joseph Gordon Levitt- I think we've found our man, Le' Sighhhhhh
You can't go wrong with a little JGL

Sex scenes

you know what my favorite part of a movie is?, not the part where everyone lives happily ever after or the lead character survives a barrage of obstacles to come out triumphant and stronger as a person in the end. NO my favorite part of the movie, is the Sex scene, and I'm not talking about a "love scene either"

None of the romantical bullshit. I'm talking some real hardcore bang it out sex! I mean that's what intimacy is really about right? Its not about all that lovey dovey soul mates shit it's about getting Buckwild wit it!

Hmmm, maybe that's why we're single... '

Anyways here is our joint list of some of our Fave Sex scenes on celluloid ......

..in a mainstream film anyways

The Dreamers: Michael Pitt, Eva Greene and Louis Gerrel make a tantalizing threesome in this explicit Bernardo Bertolucci film.
that and you get to see some quality Pitt Peen.

Factory Girl: caught this one at the original test screening, I'm not sure if they edited anything out for the official theatrical release, but yeah Hayden and sienna were definitely Boneing in that one. Realest sex scene EVER!

___________
:
.
:
:
Mysterious Skin: The camera focuses on the face of (the hotness that is) Joseph Gordon Levitt while he gets head from some fat middle aged john, but we get to see every exquisite expression on the Hotness's face, and there's nothing sexxier than that....sigh

White men Can't jump: Rosie Perez and Woodie Harrelson, I don't know what it is about this scene, maybe its the ferocious sweatiness but it does it for me every time

Jasons's Lyric: Jada Pinkett smith and Allen Payne break our hearts in this poignant Drama that initially received an NC-17 rating, yeah its a bit more "romantic" then most of the other entries but its still a scorcher

Y tu mamá también: the final kiss between Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego luna, was enough to get this thoroughly provocative film on our list. yummers

Every Fucking scene, On The L Word: I know its not a movie but whatevez this Addictive showtime series consistently packs on the hot girl on girl action, and we bow down to the lusciousness that is Jennifer Beals
AHHH

True Romance - Ain't nuthin like bumpin uglies inside a telephone booth. Yeah thatz hot! Especially when you're doin it with Christian Slater (pre-fugly years though)

Body Of Evidence - Madonna of course would have to star in a film that has one of the hottest sex scenes. The whole masochistic-pour-hot-candle-wax-all-over-my-body-bit always makes for some good lovin.

Fatal Attraction - The best one night stand ever! These two can't even wait to get inside of the apartment, they start goin at it inside of the elevator! Hotness.

Unfaithful - Adrian Lyne surely knows how to make sex scenes work. He had us shaking inside when Olivier Martinez touched Diane Lane.

9 1/2 Weeks - Another Lyne favorite. Nothing goes better with sex than food. Using food as foreplay a diabetics fantasy

Dead Calm - Yea, this wasn't exactly consensual, but it wasn't exactly forced either. Something about this sex scene is hot even though Billy Zane is sooo bad.

Brokeback Mountain - Actually i was expecting a lil more full frontal action, but the subtlty can be kinda of hot especially when he spits on his hand and shoves it down Jakes.
...... yeah

Wild Things - Classic, Neve Campbell, Matt dillon and Denise Richards in her prime, we love a good threesome and this one definetly delivers. I'm still waiting to try out that champagne move.

JGL New Movie Alert!!!

So (the Hotness that is) Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a new movie coming out
the film is called The LookOut and its from our old friends at Mirimax.
It's directed by Scott frank: he's the guy that wrote Out of Sight and Get shorty and involves a mentally challenged janitor, played by (the Hotness that is ) Gordon-levitt , who gets involved in a bank heist that goes array. It seems our hero gets way in over his head as things start to spiral out of control.
but heres the thing... I dont care.
I Dont care if the movie was about Time traveling chihuahua's who have to save the world from a pack of rabid Giant Killer Tomatoes. I would STILL be watching this movie.
why?, because (the Hotness that is) Joseph Gordon levitt is in it and therefore it is the greatest movie of all time.
He could be playing the lead in a Louis Farrakhan biopic and I'd still buy it.
He's been incredible in everything he's done post 3rd Rock from the Sun and if ya don't believe me check out Mysterious Skin, Brick and Manic:

that said ,here's hoping that biopic has plenty of full Backal nudity from the Levitts
Oh and THIS Bitch needs to play Mrs Farrakhan.
Actually that killer tomato idea isn't half bad
