Well I know I'm a but partial to QT being that I am a fan and admirer of all cinematic babies he's conceived...but I think he was a bit harsh to the paps in this video. I dunno...maybe he was on his period. I mean it must of have that time of the month for him....
Here's some exclusive video of QT gettin a "tude" at Sundance with a photog. Get your popcorn out and enjoy!

It's Official: Machete Is Coming to DVD

Since Netflix cancelled my account (cuz I don't know how to pay a credit card bill on time) I will wait in line at Blockbuster to rent or buy a copy of Machete. The movie trailer kicked ass and I KNOW it's gonna be a surefire hit.
Rodriguez...besides Tarantino is a cinematic genuis and to make this amazing film go straight to DVD is also smart marketing tactic. With all the internet buzz and the hastiness of fans like me to see this film, sales and rental profits will skyrocket. It may even do better than Grindhouse itself.
Unfortunately Grindhouse flopped at the box office which is one of the mysterries of the unknown that I will never figure out. But anywayz...this poster looks awesome! And the film will be even BETTA.

Tarantino Goes After New Pussy

Quentin Tarantino who is by far the best filmmaker EVER is going to remake 60's soft-porn cult classic "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!".
Since GrindHouse, Tarantino is very interested in making campy-sexy horror thrillers. The original film was about three thrill-seeking strippers who come upon a couple in the desert. Killing the boyfriend, they take the girl hostage and hide out on a secluded ranch owned by a wheelchair-bound redneck farmer and his two dim-witted sons. Trying to locate the man's hidden fortune, they seduce the sons to learn of the secret - soon all hell breaks loose.
Tarantino wants his version to be even raunchier. That's why we love him---and only for that reason. His choices in casting is lackluster we must say. His first choices are Kim Kardashian, Eva Mendes and none other than Britney Spears for the roles. YUCK!!!
Here's what NYIndieSeen would pick as the Pussy leads:

Jennifer Beals---she certainly knows ALL about being a Pussycat these days!

Angelina Jolie---I know I know...so typical. But why the hell the not? I would love to see her in a Tarantino flick.

Aishwarya Rai--- What about the hot Bollywood chic? Time for her to do more A-list crossover American flicks.

Christina Milian---I don't like her acting per se...but I'm curious to see how she would do in a soft core porno.

Stacey Dash--Where did she go? Has anyone seen her? Let's bring her back to the big screen!
Check out the movie trailer to the original version here:

Indie Pick O' The Day: Reservoir Dogs
Okaaaay....so we know that this blog has been stood up, neglected, and abandoned for weeks now and we apologize for that. So it's time to slowly....but surely get back into discussing indie film.
Let's talk about my favorite film of ALL time..............
RESERVOIR DOGS.
Let's talk about my favorite film of ALL time..............
RESERVOIR DOGS.

Yes, this film is not new to the NYIndieSeen blog and has been discussed many many times before, but it has not yet fallen into the NYIndieSeen Pick O The Day Category until now.
So for those of you that have no clue about indie cinema or about how this film got made, the script was written in 3 days by QT. That's Quentin Tarantino of course. Then he basically got together all of this famous talent in this film. How did he get them?
Well his producing partner and friend Lawrence Bender was taking an acting class taught by Harvey Keitel's wife. That's right. So what do you do when your an aspiring filmmaker with an awesome script you totally feel confident about and find yourself in an acting class taught by a celebrity who you thinnk should totally be in the film and you find its his wife actually teaching the class????? You give her the script of course!! You hope that first of all she reads it, and second that she shows it to her superstar husband. You hope that he actually reads it and PRAY that he likes it.
Well guess what? Harvey Keitel loved it. He loved it so much in fac that not only he decide to produce it, he wanted to BE IN IT. Damn. That's awesome.
So Reservoir Dogs is about a jewelry heist gone bad. There a group of 6 thieves who rob the place. The police arrive at the scene TOO soon and it becomes suspect that there is one among their group who may be a RAT. But who is it??
The film stars Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Steve Buscemi, Lawrence Tierney, Eddie Bunker, and QT himself. There are strong performances by each character and the dialogue is amazing. My favorite scene is the opening scene of te film including Mr. Brown's "Like A Virgin Speech". That's just a straight classic. I mean I have a whole new perspective about what Madonna meant in that song. Check this out to see what I'm talkin about:
Awesome right??? Yaaah you knoow u like it. You know u want it. Yeaaaah get it get it!!

The Best Fuckin Movie EVER!

Yea, I said it. And yea, I cussed. So what? It's 2:30 a.m. and I just got back from an early screening of Grindhouse. THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST FUCKING MOVIE I EVER SEEN!!!!
I mean, I already expected this film to be "da shiznit". After all Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's cinemanerdiness is all over this film. I refuse to break down the plot to these films because you just have to go see it. This ain't no movie review...this is a get up off your ass and go see this fuckin movie DEMAND.
Ok, I'll stop cussin and keep it cool, cuz H.P. Mchatey already did that for us earlier. However, I want you to know one thing, if you don't like blood, guts, kick ass fight scenes, gratuitous violence, sexy love montages, obligatory nudity, car chases, redneck one-liners, bad acting, jump cuts, lesbian love, overdone makeup, big hair, big asses, men's balls, turkeys, movie trailers, and missing reels footage---then I'm guessin you probably won't like this movie.
So the movie opens today....yes today is now Friday and you all need to RUN to go see it. Not walk RUN. It was so funny, becuz in the theater the usher told us to go upstairs to theater 4 to see it and I SWEAR people were running to see this flick! I've never seen so many grown ass men and women running to see a movie. So don't get left behind...see what's goin on over at the Grindhouse.

SEEN O' The Day: Reservoir Dogs
Reservoir Dogs (the best film ever)
Quentin Tarantino (the best director ever)
Ok, I am VERY partial to this film. It's by far (in my opinion) the best Film of all time. The following scene is the infamous "Like A Virgin" speech by Mr. Brown (played by the film's director Quentin Tarrantino). Can you believe this guy wrote the script to this movie in 3 days?? Amazing. There are a number of explicitives in this clip, so make sure you got your headphones on if you're at work.

Pulp Fiction
Directed by the greatest filmmaker of all time....QUENTIN TARANTINO
This is by far the best scene in this film and the scene that gave Samuel L. Jackson his Oscar nomination. Jules Winnfield was cool as hell in this scene.

We Like Tarantino So Much That...
We want to promote his producing partner Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse Trailer contest:
The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival is putting out a call to filmmakers who would like to submit their best 'Grindhouse Trailer,' in honor of the April release from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, Grindhouse. A sample of the best submissions will be judged by Rodriguez himself, and presented during SXSW, on March 11, 2007.
Filmmakers have a deadline of February 12 to submit their 'Grindhouse Trailer' (no longer than two minutes in length) to SXSW. The trailer should be made for a fictional feature-film, just like those being made by celebrity directors Eli Roth and Rob Zombie for Grindhouse. From those submissions, Rodriguez will determine the best of the bunch, and it will screen during a special presentation entitled 'Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse 101' on Sunday, March 11. During the presentation, Rodriguez will share stories and footage from the making of the upcoming Dimension Films release.
Submissions must arrive no later than February 12, to:
'SXSW Grindhouse Trailers,' P.O. Box 4999, Austin, TX 78765.
There is no application fee, but the trailers must be under two minutes in length, and made within the last 12 months. Films that have already been submitted to SXSW for 2007 consideration, are not eligible. The 2007 SXSW Film Festival occurs March 9-17 throughout downtown Austin, TX. Grindhouse will open nationwide on April 6, 2007.

IndieSeen Favorite: Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino is the most respected, prominent, and talented independent filmmakers of our generation. He started out as the nerdy video store clerk that would spend 90% of his time watching movies, ya know...that guy. But that guy has become one of the most prolific directors of the 21st century. It all started out with this low budget INDIE film called Reservoir Dogs. He took the money he made from selling the screenplay True Romance a mere 25K at the time, to make the feature length film.

Well you know the story....it's all about who you know. Tarantino was pals with producing partner Lawrence Bender and Bender was taking an acting class at the time. Coincidentally, Harvey Keitel's wife taught the class and and Bender mentioned his friend just wrote a great script about a jewelry heist. Keitel's wife loved the script and felt confident enough to let her husband read it too. Keitel was SO impressed that not only did he decide to star in the film, but he also wanted to executive produce it. DAMN!
Reservoir Dogs became the breakout film of 1992 and won several awards. It was well received at all of the major film festivals, from Sundance to Cannes and it became one of the most innovative and influential indie film of the decade. Tarantino has gone on to make films such as Pulp Fiction in which the film was nominated for an Oscar and Tarantino walked away with an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Movies like Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2, Sin City, are movies that lay indelibly printed on the conscience of ALL filmmakers. Now he has another collaboration with friend and producing partner Robert Rodriguez in the new film due out April of this year called Grindhouse. This guy keeps making hit after hit and has an unconventional way of storytelling that has become an anomaly in cinema. He is truly now an icon for every individual who wants to become a great director.
Tarantino once said:
"Movies are my religion and God is my patron. I'm lucky enough to be in the position where I don't make movies to pay for my pool. When I make a movie, I want it to be everything to me; like I would die for it."

Blood, Guts, and Sluts!

Quentin Tarrantino and Robert Rodriguez those genuises of indie filmmaking are teaming up once again to bring you GrindHouse being released in April this year. It's a pretty cool concept. In typical Rodriguez-Tarrantino style, they pay homage to B-movie explotation films. Grindhouse, also known as Grindhouse cinema or trash cinema, are a genre of movies that throw out all that arthouse bullshit out of the window and sensationlizes excessive sex, violence, and gore.

We know its sort of a long way off, but we are counting the days until this bad boy gets released!! GrindHouse is two movies presented as "Planet Terror" directed by Rodriguez and "Death Proof" directed by Tarrantino. Here's just a sample of what this film has to offer:
Rose McGowan has a amputated leg that serves as a machine gun
Kurt Russell owns a car that kills and stalks beautiful women
An outbreak of infected sickos take over a small town
Killer zombies ravage a community
Ok now here's the kicker! The scenes in the movie are presented as a montage of movie trailers. What will these guys think of next? Dontcha love it?? Or do you hate it? Either way, this will be another Kill Bill/ Sin City obession for the 2007 summer blockbuster year!
Just a teaser of what Grindhouse has to offer
