Indie Pick O' The Day: You Can Count On Me

This was a a first attempt at filmmaking for Kenneth Lonergan, a Native New Yorker. He wrote and directed the film and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Screenplay. This is a movie about a brother and sister reunite years after very little communication between one another. Sammy's screw-up brother Terry (played by Mark Ruffalo) tries to patch up his past with his sister and change his future with their present relationship. Sammy (played by Laura Linney) begins cheating on her boyfriend with her new boss, the love triangle gets complicated when her boyfriend proposes marriage and the flaws that develop between both brother and sister become apparent and later addressed.
